How Many Hours a Week Should You Revise for A-Level Physics?

Realistic weekly revision ranges, and why the quality of each session matters more than the number of hours logged.

01

Use the goal and timeline to set the range

Maintaining a grade may require around two to three focused hours each week. Moving up one or two grades often needs four to six effective hours. In the final term, many students increase to six to ten hours with more timed papers and mark-scheme review.

02

Focused work beats passive time

An hour spent completing a timed question and marking it properly is usually more valuable than an hour re-reading notes. After a session, ask what the student can now do that they could not do before. If there is no clear answer, the session may have been passive rather than active.
