Is a Physics Tutor Worth It for A-Level?

An honest framework for deciding whether targeted tutoring is likely to solve the problem affecting the current grade.

01

Tutoring works best on a specific, fixable problem

When a student understands most content but loses marks through technique, wording or a defined group of topics, precise diagnosis and targeted practice can produce faster progress than more general revision.

02

Be honest about motivation and independent work

A tutor cannot replace the student's work between sessions. If the main barrier is engagement rather than understanding, that changes the type of support required.

Before paying for tutoring, ask whether the family can clearly explain what is costing marks. If the answer is uncertain, begin with a diagnostic conversation rather than an open-ended commitment.
