How to Answer 6-Mark A-Level Physics Questions
A practical structure for planning, writing and checking longer A-Level Physics answers under time pressure.
Identify the command word first
Explain, discuss, evaluate and compare each require a different answer shape. An explanation needs clear cause and effect. A discussion or evaluation needs balanced reasoning tied to the scenario in the question.
Plan before writing
Use the first 30 to 60 seconds to note the key points in a logical order. This reduces repetition and prevents the answer from running out of direction halfway through.
Make every sentence earn its place
Use precise Physics vocabulary, connect each claim to the context and finish with the conclusion requested by the command word. Leave time to check that every part of the question has been answered.
